Kwanjula means to introduce. It is a day when the bride to be introduces her future husband (and his people who escort him) to her parents and relatives.
Kwanjula is a battle of words between spokesmen
The traditional marriage ceremony in Buganda may have changed over the years, but it still remains a battle of wits and cultural tongue-twisting between representatives of the two sides commonly known as (aboogezi) spokesmen; who engage each other in a question and answer challenge or in knowing, mentioning and following century old norms and traditions.
The style in this marriage is very flamboyant in dressing and in all activities as seen in the video bellow;
In Uganda, most of the tribal communities practice traditional marriage which is commonly known as “Kwanjula” meaning (introduction). However the Kwanjula ceremony is mostly practiced by the Buganda ethnic community.
